Around Wooli

YURAYGIR NATIONAL PARK · SOLITARY ISLANDS MARINE PARK

Three people fishing from a small aluminium tinnie on the Wooli Wooli River, one standing in a wide-brim hat to cast a line and two seated at the stern beside the outboard motor, with paperbark forest lining the far bank.

Fish the Wooli

Flick a line off the tinnie in the estuary: flathead, bream and whiting, all within sight of your site.

Surf the point

Clean lines peel off the headland and the line-up is usually just your mates: boards fit in the car.

A young surfer in a wetsuit rides the face of a clean green wave off the Wooli coast on a bright day, with a second surfer paddling over the shoulder behind.
A sheltered sandy cove on the Yuraygir coastal walk seen from the headland: turquoise water breaking white over dark rocks, a few surfers in the shallows and pandanus palms in the foreground.

Whale watching

Humpbacks cruise past on migration: bring binoculars to the headland.
